St. Nicholas visited St. Kateri School again today, so he could visit with the 4 year olds who only come in on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. St. Nicholas told the children he had heard that they had seen a movie about him and what did they learn? After talking about where he lived, how he dressed and that he gave things to others, one boy said, "St. Nicholas had God in his heart." The adults in the room, including St. Nicholas himself, were speechless for a moment and then he, (St. Nicholas) said...yes he did. As St. Nicholas left, he told the children to remember to have God in their hearts, just like St. Nicholas! Our school theme is Love, Responsibility and Service. The students and staff learned more about and demonstrated those traits today as we celebrated St. Nicholas Day. St. Nicholas, himself, (also known as Father Morgan Rice) greeted the children as they entered school. Paper Products and Hygiene Items were brought in. The products were placed in the children's shoes and the shoes placed in the hallway where St. Nicholas, as well as some of his helpers, gathered the donated items and replaced them with a small thank you gift. They donated items will be given to St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center. There was great excitement as the children examined the gifts left by St. Nicholas. One more day to shop for Christmas Presents at St. Kateri School! Remember today and tomorrow the Christmas Gift Shop will be open at St. Kateri School. There are lots of wonderful gifts to buy for people and pets, for babies, young children and adults! ![]()

Aesop’s Fables The Red Herring Puppets visited St. Kateri PK-5th graders yesterday. The show included: The Lion and the Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Owl and the Grasshopper, The Fox and the Crow, The Crow and the Pitchers, and the Stork and the Fox. How many of you can remember how these fables end? This assembly was made possible by the funds raised from our Walk-a-Thon…in other words, thanks moms and dads for making this assembly enjoyable and a great learning experience. You might want to re -read these for yourself. A St. Kateri Student received a special escort to school Tuesday morning. Second grader, Brent Wickline, got a ride from the Ridge Culver Fire District to St. Kateri School. He won the ride after submitting the most creative plan for getting out of your home in case of an emergency. Fire officials wanted to make a memorable ride after learning Brent is battling cystic fibrosis and his father is fighting cancer. His classmates cheered him on when he pulled up in the fire truck. He will be leaving surprises in the shoes of the children. He is asking that the children bring in things, listed below, to share with our neighbors at St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center. Thank you in advance. ![]()
